Noisy Fuel Pump/Rough Idle S40-V40

I have a 2000 S40 with 112,000 miles. My fuel pump has been making a loud, high pitched whining sound for a while now. I have also been getting a rough idle when it's in "drive" with the break applied, followed by engine hesitation when I try to accelerate. It idles fine in "park". Has anyone else had this problem? Could the fuel pump cause these symptoms?

Also, could anyone suggest a good place to buy a replacement pump? The dealer said it would cost $300. Thanks.
