That's why I mentioned the 1999 Volvo tensioner which had a bad habit of dying at 85K miles! That was fixed by 2001 with a new supplier.

My 1998 is due for a new belt at around 205K, but I might not wait that long myself. The hydraulic tensioner is original, as is the water pump.
