Re: Shift lock solenoid 850 1994 Turbo

Thanks LM. I plan on looking at the switch today. I am still not sure about the ground though. I am getting ~13V+ to the solenoid when the brake is pressed and shifter is in park. Unless the ground for the circuit is connected in conjunction with the hot (switched), my meter is telling me that the solenoid should work in all respects. Maybe Volvo sold me a defunct solenoid. Or I have it all confused. Are you saying that the positive voltage is originated at the connector at the solenoid and then once the microswitch is closed and then the brake pedal is closed the circuit is closed? If I am reading you correctly, the switch at the brake pedal is not "powered". I will have to check the omage of mine to see if I have the same problem that you did. I'm still a bit bent about spending $53.65 on a solenoid that may not have been bad though. BTW, did you have to pull the knee bolster to gain access to the switch?

Thanks

Prospero
