When I replaced the parking brakes, I would never say the small spring was 'easily' replaced.
Nothing should move after the springs are mounted, except the shoes and even those should move with difficulty. The mounting brackets for the shoes need to be at 90 degree angles and coated with brake grease to prevent rust.
Check the cable mounts on the rear of the car, make sure one of them haven't rusted off. That could cause a rattle also.
