I can understand the key release, it is cable controled at the rear of the lock cylinder. If you pull off the plastic clamshell, you can use machine oil to lube where the cable goes into the cylinder. You stretched the cable to the max with the wheel all the way up - that should still work unless your cable gets a little dirty.
The 2 second start is due to security. Your alarm is still on and active. Try turning the key in the door a couple of times to unlock the car, then start it.'
