Ok, here we go again.
In August i posted about my 2001 n/a v70 cooling fan and thanks for your replies but the car ran fine after that, till last night when the temp gauge went off the dial and turn engine off message displayed. My 19yr old was driving and i dont know at this stage whether it was a gradual rise in temp or sudden. This morning i went to the car which had been sitting overnight and when i turned the ign on, the gauge was still in the red with the same turn off engine message.
the cooling fan was running
plenty of coolant in the tank
do you think the likely suspects are
temp sender
sticky thermostat
why would the dim indicate overheat and the fan be running even though the engine was cold
i am aware that the DIM's in these cars are not the best but would a faulty temp gauge control the cooling fan?
I look forward to your thoughts once again with thanks
David
PS i will remove the thermostat till the issue resolved
