Question About Strut Brace for AWD V70-XC70 1998

I think that is actually the new upper motor mount design. If
you look closly you will see the top of the motor bolted to the
rod (for those that have not seen it, the rod goes across
the engine and is tied to the shock towers and looks like a
strut brace). At the ends, on the shock tower, it sits in
some sort of dampner (so it is not rigid) and can rock back
and forth about it's axis.

It might also serve as a brace -- that would be cool if it did
(but I kind of doubt it).
