'96 has a known unique wiring splice problem............ 850 1996

If you want your '96 850 fixed w/o guessing, I'd advise taking it to a dealer as there's an old SB (or tech net note) regarding ABS codes and problems due to 4 bad wire splices under the fuse box, which must be completely unfastened and lifted up to access the splices. I cut them out and solder the wires which cures this. It'll cost about 1.5-2 hours labor. I can't easily explain the multipage proceedure (with pics)in detail and properly identify the wire splices here which is why I'm suggesting the dealer.
This is unique to '96 850s ONLY, not the same problem as the newer S/V70s which usually require a new control unit.
