suspension upgrades 850 1993

first of all, brickboard is the greatest! anyway, im trying to think of ride/handling upgrades for my volvo, a 93 854. ive looked at iPd and thru catalogues and websites and ive seen the shocks, springs, struts, sway bars, bushings, etc... that everyone has to offer. has anyone tried any of these upgrades and could you recommend something 1)relatively cheap 2)possible to install yourself 3)that will really make a difference in the way the car handles and drives. thanks a lot!
