"When I fill up, I usually have about 2 gallons of fuel left before I arrive at the pump. My car should be getting about 20miles/gal city adn 25 miles/gal highway right?"
From which I'd guess you don't actually keep records of your gas purchases, so you haven't actually calculated your MPG figure, this is just an estimate. (I always do, from day one with every car, it's an easy way to check on the health of your car's engine!)
Before going to excessive effort, try calculating your real, actual gasoline consumption over a minimum of 4-5 full tanks.
Also, are your tire pressures correct? What does your car's trip computer say about your average MPG? No "check engine" light on?
I get about 23 mpg on a T5 MANUAL mostly highway 75mph 5th gear driving so I'd guess that 17-18 for a LPT automatic around town would be within the norm.
