I just replaced one of these clips on my 96 850R. It was a PITA :-) I first pushed the clip inside the bumstop and up through the hole in the top. Once the top of the clip was visible through the hole I held the bumpstop up using a 1/2" drive extension (it fits inside the bumpstop and allows you to put upward pressure on the clip). I used a large, flathead screwdriver and a little leverage (using the spring) and the clip snapped into place. Doing this while laying on my back and reaching inbetween the spring coils was interesting (I of course jacked that side of the car up to extend the spring).
Good luck!
