Stuck antenna S70

I have a 98 S70. For about the past month or so, the antenna has been jammed such that it only goes up about two levels. It does go down all the way when I turn the radio off. This has happened in the past, and I've fixed it with some WD40 and wiping it frequently. This fix doesn't work any more. I believe there's a lot of dirt in there that's jamming the works although I'm not certain.

Can I fix this, or do I need total replacement?

Thanks for your assistance and forgive me for a relatively trivial question.
