FM Radio Cutting Out 850 1996

This same thing has happened to me on my 96 850. It goes on and off without warning. My indie said that the cheapest route to fix it is find a replacement unit at a scrap yard.
Apparently he says it is a common problem with these radios as the cars start to age.
