The ol' '95 855T has 110K miles on it. I just had it with the mechanic for regular maintenece and a check up. He suggested that I need to have the oil trap box and plumbing cleaned and/or replaced. He said that Volvo recommends this service between 80 and 120K. He stated that the oil in the box becomes sludgy and can cause high pressure in the engine possibly causing the rear main seal to blow. What does this box do, does it need to be cleaned, and if so, what should I expect to pay for such a service ? He stated there was a bulletin of some type out there regarding this.
Thx, JJF
