Can anyone help me, I have a Canadian 1995 Volvo 850 wagon, 2.4L NON-turbo, 5spd. The white tag on the timing cover denotes that it is a B5252 engine and the 6 digit serial number starts with a 4------. When I inquire about an aftermarket belt they ask if the ser# is above or below a certain number,(it appears to be above because the number the ask starts with a 1-----) one of the jobbers also asks if it is above or below this number or is it the "interference " engine (my understanding is that they are all interference engines) How many possible belts are there and can anyone steer me towards the right one. I don't want to be stuck buying the wrong one and I really don't want to buy all three "just in case" The Volvo belt lists at $100, as opposed to a quality aftermarket part at $55, I believe OEM parts are the way to go, however obviously either Gates,Goodyear Or Continental etc make the belt for them. I have a hard time justifying an extra $50 to have the VOLVO name on it.
