I plan to be there albeit with my decidedly not show-worthy S40. I rsvp'd to the Facebook event.

Do you know which local organization the event will benefit? Perhaps I can research what types of canned goods are most needed.

The question would be better directed at Secor Volvo directly but do you know if they'll have a their parts counter open for the event? I believe they are normally closed on Saturdays.

I'm looking forward to checking out the VCOA crowd and seeing some interesting Swedish iron. Thanks for making us aware of the event.

    -Will

      Hi Will,

Last year Secor delivered the canned goods to the local (New London) food bank. The cash donations went, via one of our club organizers, to First Church "Good Samaritan" for their greater community needs (New Britain I believe). Though I'm not sure if the same will happen this year.

Unfortunately the parts dept will be closed on Saturday.

Look forward to seeing you there!

      -Randy

        Great!

I figured that they would be sending food to the local food bank. It's just down the street after all. The Gemma E. Moran food bank runs a large and successful operation distributing food and meals to those in need.

        From their website:
"Types of Food to Collect Ask people to donate canned and dry goods, that are not in glass containers, in the following categories: tuna, meats, stew, vegetables, fruits, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried beans, and peanut butter. Baby food is also always needed. Be sure to ask the Food Center staff if there are additional food items that are critically needed at the time of your drive. Supplies may be lower in a particular category."

Weather for Saturday is looking good too! I may even have to wash the car beforehand too...

        -Will
