| This volvo was purchased new by Steve Dorfman, a doctor, at Helms Volvo, which is still existing Volvo dealership in Queens, NY in 1973. In 1974, the car was given to his brother John Dorfman, also a doctor who lived in Connecticut. The car was driven by John and his then girlfriend, my sister Nickie Irvine. Nickie primarily drove and took care of the car from that point on. In 1980, Nickie and John moved to northern California south of San Francisco where the car has been until this year (2005). After 217,000 of dutiful service and two paint jobs in 1987 and2001, I obtained the car from my sister Nickie and her husband John when it was shipped from San Lorenzo, CA to Madison Heights, MI using Dependable Auto Shippers, between September 10th and 24th, 2005.
I now have the car in my basement garage. It's had minor repairs recently, including replacement of the MAP sensor and I am currently looking for replacement badges, including the "automatic", hope to put AC back in it, and will eventually have the seats reupholstered, and the cracked dash replaced.
