Facebook Whistleblower

This Facebook whistleblower fraud could mean the end of this forum.

Zuckerberg: "Please don't regulate me, please! Oh, well I guess we have to do what's good for the people."

The con games are just so obvious these days. Of course, just look around. Most people aren't very smart or classy. My adventures from working class poor to upper middle class showed me that even the nicest neighborhoods are populated by trailer trash minded people with more material gain than their labor justifies.

I expect the plan is to create a new department to focus on regulation of internet speech. I can't wait to learn the Orwellian name they give it.

I'll check with a lawyer, but I believe that if I just make this entirely private and invite only, then I can probably escape what Facebook "has to do." That is, hire an army of tattoo-necked, puzzle-headed, dumpy morons to play offended for some imaginary minority of "victims."

I've been working nonstop since I was under 12. It's pretty easy to argue that I'm in the 20% column of those who hold this system up (who carry the other 80%). I've put my energy in the wrong place for much of my life and need to pivot.

To the younger people on the forum: save your energy for your local community. Incorporate and stay low; don't threaten the cartels (big corporations who own everything, including the minds of most people). Play their game to the letter of the law but don't be tempted by their empty, corrupt culture. Lead people you care about. Build, build, build as your way to give to others.

This forum remains one of my best efforts. We didn't become what these ugly beasts, like Facebook, became. I don't covet or envy any of that. I'm always happy to see what still goes on here.

    Jarrod,

Can we please donate one time using Card, PayPal, or ACH?

And yes, Sheet faced book refuses any BB link to this day now for maybe three / four years. Appears this happens now to all users in the Volvo forums on sheet-faced-booked. You can post Turbricks and other Volvo forum link there.

Thank and Happy Anniversary for all you do as Uncle Dave Stevens posts this day.

    Thank you.

Greetings from North Platte, NB and going further west via 1991 Volvo 240 with M47 II.

Sorry, I must not be very bright (!) but, in words of one syllable, what are the actual implications for a forum such as this?

By the way, I did attempt to subscribe once, honest. But it wouldn't complete the action so I gave up. Maybe because I'm across the pond? The only Brit now I guess. I hope the forum survives. Regards.

Agreed, hope the forum survives! Technology is under some pretty intense scrutiny in the US these days.

FYI - There are some Brits and Scots who participate in the car forums.

I barely paid attention to it. Smacks of yet another round of the dog and pony show they put on every time Google/Twitter/Facebook makes the news for being too big/powerful. They show up, get scolded by committee members totally unqualified to speak on the topic at hand, and then they all go smugly home.

With any luck this round will be different, as you seem to suggest. If the threat to their business is deemed real, then they will react and address. Regulation adds cost after all. I hope that they are willing and able, otherwise yes, they may pass the buck onto the government. They'll go and drag Tom Ridge back out to head the new Department of Homeland Security. Dept. of At-Home Security?

Facebook would be a much friendlier place if it was a space for discussing the maintenance of Volvos.

"I expect the plan is to create a new department to focus on regulation of internet speech. I can't wait to learn the Orwellian name they give it."

What ideas do you have for naming this new department that will protect Americans from dangerous ideas (i.e., not patent-able, profitable, or otherwise beneficial to the megacorp)?

Example: Federal Bureau of Investigations is the name we give what should be an illegal federal police force specializing in entrapment.

Department of Truth -> too obvious
Center for Meaning Control -> healthy minds? (CDC is quasi-governmental, by the way.)

    I'll come up with more.

You worry too much. Some money will go in to some politicians reelection account & that will be the end of it.

(These guys have WAY more money than the NRA)

I don't think you have to worry about this forum.

Jack Reacher(staring Tom Cruise): "Remember, You wanted this."

the goal socially acceptable 'censorship', waiting for us to ask for it.

the Internet, however, is too big for this.

the FB blowed-whistle is a Work---anyone who lived thru Pro Wrestling on TV, all the from the back---BC - before color TeeVee sets. A social lesson learned early--and great laff for a middle school mind.
The Top-O-the Card was always the Tag Team match.

Live in White Plains, my dad took me once. Two tag teams on that card -- 2nd was (dare I say...midgets)
White Plains, NY, as in the Seat of Government, of the Sophisticated Westchester County.

Interesting the fewer posts on the RWD part of the forum. Smile at the interest in pre FI Volvos.

      cheers---here since 1997

        Before Our very eyes.
        So bold.

        The Work
        A scripted event

In professional wrestling, any pre-scripted event can be referred to as a work. Because professional wrestling is highly scripted, most matches, friendships, and rivalries are works - though wrestlers and audiences tend to pretend they're real.
What is the opposite of a work?

The opposite of a work is a shoot, or unscripted event. Because pro wrestling relies on wrestlers sticking to the script and maintaining kayfabe, shoots are uncommon. However, during particularly emotional performances, wrestlers may be enticed to act off-script, transforming a work into a shoot.

In some instances, wrestlers (and their writers) attempt to make works seem like they are shoots. These sorts of events are often referred to as worked shoots.
