A/C Compressor Oil on 240 200 1988

The answer depends...

...are you flushing your system? You should--to evacuate any old oil or debris. This will then allow you to definitively add the correct amount of oil to the compressor and know that no other oil is lingering in the system which may contaminate or add to the quantity you are putting in the compressor. My memory is suggesting the usual amount is 6 to 8 ounces of oil. The Volvo OEM r134a conversion kit comes with a bottle about that size.

My compressor came with oil in it--the wrong kind of oil. I drained it overnight and refilled the next day. Works like a champ!

Do get a condenser fan.
