How to replace the crossmember, and why you might want to (Warning bandwidth intensive) 700

last summer i took apart a 88 740 sedan.
i didn't feel like renting a hoist and I was outside without a sky hook , so I just dropped the engine and trans along with the crossmember, I set the strut towers aside..

I dropped the body onto a log then towed it off, leaving the engine and trans and front end on the ground.

Its here ( near Vancouver BC Canada) if anyone needs it. I never removed the engine or trans yet.

My theory is to break it like that, someone left the road for a moment,then landed, or encountered a bump like hit a curb, a slide in the snow into a curb or similar, not necessarily relating to body damage, sort of accident but some sort of impact to the front end though the tires.
