The Audi blower isn't really that bad, it's just a headache. You CAN get a dremel or a die grinder and zap a hole in the plastic that retains it. You shouldn't split the WHOLE case open (I'm talking from memory here) but you can split the top off enough to get the motor out after removing the circlip from the end of the motor case.

With the location of the blower in the Audi, you don' have to worry too much about being beautiful. Just seal the thing back up well when you are done. Adhesive caulk is good. Use something that can deal with moderate heat, though. The blower assembly IS protected from the engine heat somewhat, but not totally.

Then if I recall, you'd have cut enough of an access hole to yank the thing out. The blower wheel itself is kind of a nuisance. Use penetrating oil.

Did you have to release the evaporator housing from inside the car? it's been a while since I did one of those.

Use a new motor. The used deal with blower motors is always a bad one. You spend too many hours replacing that stuff to use an old motor.
