Blue smoke after shifting at 4K+ rpms! 200 1989

I had a similar problem.... turned out the oil was waaaaay overfilled by the po. Worth a check... It seems that when the rpm's were high the splash from the oil flooded the cylender and the car would spew a huge cloud of smoke and cut out. when I checked the oil it was like 2 quarts overfull!
