need help getting shafts to TDC 200 1982

I'm in the process of doing a bunch of maintenence on my '82 244 GLT, I was in the middle of the timing belt, but didn't have the 22mm socket to get the crankshaft bolt off, so I set about installing my adjustable cam gear and got everything out of TDC. Even in relationship to each other, I can't be sure that they are true. The cylinder head cover is off... that should help me out with the camshaft at least right? Are there any tricks to make this easy? and isn't it harder than just lining all the tick marks up? thanks

I think you will find the section of the 700/900 FAQ that covers timing belt installation on the B230 engine worth exploring. The correct shaft line-up is pictured in one of the enties there, and there is a wealth of other useful stuff, as well. Almost all of what is shown there also applies to the engines in 1982 240s.
