Wiper Motor advice 200 1991

I am going to purchase a new wiper motor for my car. The old one died :(

I was wondering if anyone has advice on which one to purchase. My mechanic says it will be $200 from him. He buys good but expensive parts. I saw on IPD that they charge $112 for a new motor. Does anyone know if the IPD part is decent?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

These don't fail often. I would consider a junkyard wiper motor if I needed one.

Make sure the problem is really the motor and not the ground or relay. I read once that a lot of wiper motors get replaced when all that is really wrong is a poor ground.

On the older ones at least, they ground through one of the mounting ears (via thin strip). I missed this one when cleaning up the other grounds in the engine bay.

Same thing just happened to my 1990 245. I was told that if the magnet detached from the wiper motor wall, then it was NOT rebuildable, otherwise it can be rebuilt for about $85.00CDN + tax. I went to the local p+p and paid $27.00CDN for one off a 1989 244. It fit like the old one . So try a local wreckers first

IPD will stand behind the parts they sell. Also check FCPGroton.

Thanks for all the advice. I ordered the part from FCP (thanks Klaus). I ordered on Sunday night...the part was received and installed on Tuesday...Awesome!!

Not a bad "do it yourself job"..it is a bit difficult to work in the glove compartment area...I was glad I had small hands but a fairly easy install. Now I no longer have to check the weather forcast before driving my car.

I am sure IPD would have been fine but the delivery was much longer so I went for the closest thing to NJ I could find..

Thanks all once again.

Craig
