Noisy volume control 945T

My volume control causes the speakers to make a cracking/popping noise whenever I adjust the volume. I alos notice that the sound will come on and off the speakers when I tuen up the volume.

Anyway that I can repair it? Perhaps I could apply some contact cleaner? Where?

Thanks

I was able to remedy this on my 945 by removing the radio, then removing the portion of the radio that covers the control mechanisms. I then sprayed contact cleaner in the controls and turned the knob by hand to help in the cleaning. It's been good for over a year now.

OK will give it a try.

BTW contact cleaner will evaporate right?

So as long as the power is off and I wait a couple of hours before connecting the power there should be no problems of a short. I intend to spray a generous amount of contact cleaner and would not want the liquid the remain and short the electronics when I connect it back.

You can always blow some air in there after the cleaner evaporates to make sure there's no residual and dislodge any dust or other matter.
