Electric cooling fan turns on intermittently 900 1993

My electric cooling fan turns on intermittently. It never stays on for more than about 25 seconds. Also, it doesn't run when the A/C is on either. Am I looking at a problem with the sensor or the relay? Thanks, Jim

Sounds like it's working correctly. If your 900 is like the 740's, the fan is triggered by the coolant temperature sensor in the radiator, not the A/C power. However, if it's coming on before the engine is even up to normal operating temperature, then there is probably an issue with either the sensor or relay, either of which you should be able to diagnose with a simple multimeter and a little investigation work.
