Non-bosch alternator 900 1994

Greetings

Car is a NA 940 with around 215k miles. I'm guessing at this mileage the alternator prolly needs new brushes and regulator. Alternator is a Denso. I found nothing in the FAQ or in the archives on how to renew the brushes in a Denso except the fact that is is inside.

How do one change the brushes or even check the brushes in these alternators?

Thanks

To make this clear, you can replace the brush assembly but not just the piece of carbon as you can on some alternators and starters.

I had the Denso 100A alt out so I started to poke around. This is basically a non-replaceable brush but I’d be happy to be proven wrong. You can find replacements at on-line stores. To find this on the alternator, look for the fins on the back. I had 150++ miles left on this brush.
