Is this car worth $150? 700 1992

A 92 745 NA with auto trans, goldish color, 221,000 miles.
The good- no underbody rust, one rust spot on left rear pillar, engine started instantly with a new battery, ran good, new steering rack, new radiator. 4 bald snows on wheels.
The bad- head downpipe broken (in half), leak in brake system, needs battery, drivers door is black (replaced), dent in hood, deep swipe dent on rt front fender, turn/marker lens gone, another shallow dent on left rear (deer), tires only fair. Rear windows do not work, rt front window off track (held up by duct tape). Rear hatch struts gone, latch sticks.
The ugly- filthy interior (although there may be $150 in change laying around..).
Did not drive car, only could acertain that transmission shifted into drive and reverse OK.
So what do you think? Should I get this car (and spend lots of time fixing it)?
Must be gone by Friday.

Is this car worth $150? You bet! (to a poor college student) 700 1992

I guess it depends on your situation. If you already have a one or more (small fleet) of 200/700/900/850/letter-cars that you maintain and enjoy driving, then picking up another project car is a significant consumption of time (assuming you have the time to spare), and may not be worth the effort.

However, if you're fighting to pay your student loan payments, and are just stepping out into the post-college life (as many of my friends are), then this is a STEAL!

One of my friends bought a 740 recently for $350, with a decent amount of rust and abuse on it. Two weeks later, he was in an accident at about 25 miles an hour (hit in the front while making a turn). We swapped a fender, bumper, and a headlight assembly and the car is still crusing on. And besides, many of us would rather be driving a mis-colored, poor condition Volvo than a new American built sedan or aircraft carrier (SUV).

If you don't want the vehicle, I have a few interested parties here in Michigan that might be willing to pay for a bus ticket to get it.
God bless,
Fitz.

In all likelihood I will pass on this, as you said I have too many projects. Reserve a ticket soon, going on Friday.

it's had a hard life!

Consider the costs to buy parts in my local area.

ONE used wagon tailight: $100 (plus 14% tax)
ONE carpeted door pocket: $65 (plus 14% tax)

I'd buy it
