Fog light questions 200

My 1983 244 TI came witha set of OE Foglights. I really like them, and would like to put them on my '88244DL and 84 245TI. The one's on my '83 are bosch, and they seem to work well. I checked with Volvo and Ipd and I have been told that the Bosch does not make Fog Lights anymore. I figured I could probably pull as set off a BMW or Mercedes, but I have heard I could buy th;em new if I could just find the right source. Is this a big job to do? Thank for any information and happy bricking.

Fog light questions 200

I yanked a set of Bosch Pilot fogs off of a BMW. Mercedes ( or at least all of the Mercedes I've seen) used different fog lightsl. Many 700 and 900 series volvos have them, too. I pulled the relay and console switch off of a 240 that had had them, then ran power to the relay from the driver side parking light. That way, they only come on when the parking lights do, and they shut off when you shut the car off. Total cost was about 25 bucks.

You can certainly get them new from ipd, shells, lenses (with reflector body) and bulbs, or complete lamps, unless they have recently discontinued them.

I don't know where your getting your information at Volvo, but it is wrong. The 240 fog lights are still available as a complete kit, Bosch lamps, wires & harness, relay, switch & complete instructions. P/N 9134068. List is $288. Note that the earlier 'fog' Bosch insert was repl, aced with a similar looking lamp, but has shorter light throw and wider illumination to the sides than hte earlier ones, which may be why you can't find one for your '83. The kit is for all 240's 75-93. These mount under the bumper just wider apart than the sides of the grill but under the headlights. You need to drill some holes in the bumper for the older cars. Newer ones have the holes there. Not too bad an install, about 2 1/2 hrs.

I just ordered a set for my '91 245 today. Got a little break off then list at my local dealer. This is the third set of fogs I've gotten for a 245, the last set was wrecked by the hit & run driver after putting them in only 2 yrs ago.

Foglights 200

Hmm, it seem to be a common thing for my local dealorship to tell me things that are discontinued when they are really not. I have heard that they simply don't know how to look things up on the computer. Wow, I will check another dealorship. Thanks

I bought a set of Bosch fogs off ebay as a kit that includes wiring, lamps, and bulbs. I would check there first.
