pulsed seconday air system 900

I've had a code on my 96 960 thats telling me I have a problem with my secondary air. I dont have the code handy but it's been on for close to a year. The pump works and I checked the rubber elbows for leaks and they appeared OK. Is there a way to check the valve? If I take it off should air pass thru both ways or one way and not the other?

Thanks
Neil

You may just need the valve-water can ruin it from condensation from the motor and just may be the case with your problem.
    Hope that helps

Is there a way to check whether or not its working? I believe the parts around $100 and I'd like to verify if the valve is shot.

      Thanks

If you suck on the valve's control port, with your mouth, you should not get any air through it but you should be able to detect that the valve opens. When mine failed, the air pump would run but there was only air movement at the pump intake. No real positive suction. When the valve opens and the air pump runs there is a lot of suction at the pump inlet with a properly working system.

If you get air with a little water you have a bad valve that is sucking exhaust gases, primarily H2O & CO2, and the water is condensing in the cooler parts.

The DAM thing has a rolling rubber seal at the through shaft that fails just like the vacuum motors in the A/C system.
