Odd and unexplained sighting S90-V90

I was walking to work the other day and as I approached one of the parking garage entrances, a Volvo approached to the side. It was a SW with the headlight/fog combo in a row. Thinking it was a early model year of the 960, my eyes caught the distinctive wheels of my V90. As it pulled into the garage before I passed behing it, there was the V90 badge. Whoa there buckaroos! What's going on here...was this a very early 97 V90 where they were 'switching over' and just using up spare parts as needed, a result of a freaky accident repair, or had my eyes deceived me?

Please illuminate...

    Hey Shatz-Could have been some one who used older parts to replace damage from a misshap,rather than the parts correct for the model year.
