OBDII Scan Tool ? 900 1996

What would be a decent OBDII scan tool to have on hand. Id like to pull codes, ect (maybe even reset the check engine light but thats not a requirement) Whats everybody in here using ? Im not looking to spend a small fortune either, just want something that works decent. I looked in the 700/900 FAQ (OBDII) and went to the few websites and wondered if anyone is using any of these programs/adapters ? I can buy a cheap Palm Pilot from eBay if I had to, But a basic scan tool would be fine to ! Any advise ? Thank's

If you have a laptop, look at this site: http://www.obdscan.net/
I have a $499 Dell laptop that I use as my auto repair tool; It contains a wireless web link to Alldatadiy.com for access to repair information, Streets and Trips installed with a blue tooth gps receiver that I use for navigation, and the software and hardware adapter from the site above for dianostics of my 2000 Tacoma and '97 960. Also acts as a spare PC to my desktop.
I haven't used the system yet; however, if the site is correct, in addition to "working the codes," one can collect data from several sensors on the car, display it as a graph and get a pretty good idea about what the engine and transmission are doing.

The scangauge does look OK. If you have a laptop, you may also want to check this page:

      http://www.carterrv.com/crv/crviis.dll?mtd=products&txtcategory=Vehicle%20Electronics#2-OBDii-Interface

They currently have 3 different interface modules, based on 3 chips from Elm Electronics that provide connection to the various manufacturers. They will be soon coming out with a unit that does all 3 groups using the new interface chip.

Yes, I saw that one the other day after someone posted it or I read it in the FAQ. I wonder if anyone here has bought it and used it ? Its says a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee!! Hmmmm, only 30 day's ? It seems like such a device should work for yrs. I think ive got to see how long other device mfgs (Actron,Equus, ect) warranties are good for...But It Did look like a Cool Device ! I'm hoping somebody here can tell me what they are using & how happy they are with whatever they bought !
