1991 240 startup and radio questions 200 1991

hey all - happy holidays!

i have two questions about my beloved 1991 240. i'm the second owner of this car and am just now hitting 110K miles after getting this car for a steal.

when i bought the car i knew about these problems:

1) on startup, the car will sometimes "hiccup" and not start up. most of the time, it cranks fine and sometimes needs a little shot of gas and the the engine will get going normally. other times, i will try to start it up a first time, it doesn't start, all of the dashboard lights go off and it tries starting again, at which point the engine gets going. however, sometimes it doesn't. if this happens, i will pull the key out and then try it a second time after going throught this and it starts. ive never had it not start after more than two tries at it.

this typically happens if i havent driven the car in awhile and it's colder outside, but not exclusively.

i feel like this is somehow a fuel delivery problem into the engine - does that sound right?

2) the volvo radio was replaced with a sony 10 disc cd changer. i was told that the cd player worked fine for a number of years, and then it stopped working all of a sudden. i have the "code" - do i still need this? or, is this a wiring/electrical problem?

a shout out too my fellow berkeley 240 owners out there - perfect car for this perfect city!

If its a Sony, chances are the optical pick-up head is gone. I had one car CD player, a Discman, and a Mini Hi-Fi, all went kaput within 2 years of use. If the player and CD changer lights up when powered up, and the display show an error message and the radio works, then the player is gone.
If there is completely no light and sound ie its "dead", then it might be worthwhile troubleshooting the wiring. I'd start with the power cables, followed the connection to the changer, and the cables to the speakers. Good luck.
