Need a quick answer if I can on a distributor question 700 1989

Hope this comes back pretty quick, as a decision has to be made.

The 89 760 will not start. Pulled the distributor, and I am pretty sure it is bad - just want verification.

The shaft moves in and out at least 1/4 ", with some pretty good wobble. There is a plastic looking ring (smaller diameter than the plate) under the slotted plate that moves through the pickup. This part is loose altogether.

Probably idiotic of me to even ask with those symptons - but I did - so please give me an answer. Just want to make sure.

Usually the in and out is less than 0.010". Your distributor cannot work correctly with 0.25" of end play

If you want brand new, try ebay. I'd probably buy a used one.

The one on there now is used, so I will probably go new or rebuilt.

I did find a rebuilt Bosch for 169.00 + free shipping. Thanks for the E Bay tip. I will check it out.
