Location of IAC; oil in hose past AMM - normal? 200 1990

Looking into running rich (prior post today), was going to clean IAC but not really sure if I've found it - also, the hose past the AMM that goes into the TB is oily - is that normal?

I always have a little mess in that hose.

IAC is under the intake. I believe 2 hoses and an electrical connection attached to it.

    It's a cylinder about 3 inches long.

Right under the throttle body? I guess the pic of one I saw might be for a 740. This can cause running rich right?

It controls idle speed by regulating the amount of air bypassing the closed throttle body plate. Probably not directly related to your problem but you may discover other things wrong while routing around.
I have seen oil in my intake air hoses as well, more importantly is the hose crack free and not letting extra air in that has not been metered by the AMM. I pressurize them by plugging the holes with my fingers and palm of my hand and blowing air with my mouth. If it seems to hold pressure it is OK. You might want to clean the end you put on your mouth unless you like the taste of oil!

Not sure if it will make it run rich. Won't hurt to clean it.

Have you tested your O2 sensor?

        Have you checked the FAQ?
