oil leak from rear axle S90-V90

Lately I have noticed an oil drop on my garage. I noticed it was coming from the rear right shocks. I have a 97 V90 only has 37,000 miles. Any idea to what is the cause??? How to fix it??

If the oil is dropping off the bottom of the shock absorber, it must be the shock is bad. There isn't anything else in the area that can supply oil. Probably from a corroded shaft wearing out the seal? Replace the shocks.

There is crease in the CV joint at the outer end of the axle but you say it is oil. Correct?

Oh! I didn't even realize that he said it's comming from the rear SHOCKs, yeah of course, it's most likely a failed shock.

37K mi! Geez, nice! As for the leak, well, it sounds like the right diff output seal is leaking. Did you smell the oil? If it's gear oil it will be thick (not like water) and have a stong fowl smell. Is the fluid pretty clean and a golden color? The only other thing that comes to mind is a brake fluid leak, but that's pretty unlikely on a car that young with low mileage. If it is an axle seal, the axle will have to be removed, the seal replaced and the fluid topped up. I'm not sure what kind of labour is involved, but I'd say it's a good couple hour job at least for someone who is familiar with the Multi-link II rear suspension. If a diff seal is leaking at that low mileage I would *guess* that it's becasue the car has been sitting around a lot and the seal has dried up, but I don't know what kind of seal is used there. I hope this helps!
