700 or 900 series ? 700

hi, just curious on the 740 and 940's what are the differences? is one model better then the other? maintence etc. cost to repair?
thanks for any advice!

700 or 900 series ? 700

They are basically identical in a given year; the difference being more features on the 900s so they are nicer. The 900s continued after the 700s were discontinued, and the cars continued to evolve with things like better oil distribution in the B230L than the B230K engines used when the 700s were still being made. The FAQ has a section on model identification which will give you a lot of the details.

Maintenance costs and reliability should be similar for a given year, with the exception that the extras that are in the 940s aren't there to break in the 740s.

Hmmm, i always kinda thought 900's were alittle more to repair in a shop than 700's?? I work on my own 700, but i have a friend who owns a 960 and has had a few issues with it...i could be wrong here tho...thats just one example.

960s are a whole other kettle of fish. Different engine, more (and more complicated) electronics. Much more cost-intensive when something goes wrong - but still wonderful cars. Just a matter of knowing what you're getting into with one.
