My exhaust header keeps coming loose and I noticed that it is not bolted to the bottom if the car. There is some kind of plate there but it is not holding the header on.

There should be a bracket that bolts to the transmission bell housing via two bolts and it in turn bolts to the head pipe via two more bolts and a couple of "U" shaped pieces. It is not uncommon to have this stuff rust away.

Thanks for your reply. I went to volvo and purchased all the hardware. Someone definately cut the bolt mounting plate to get the header off.
