The bullet has been having a rough idle lately when it first starts up, its not so bad but does sound like a go-cart. I just replaced the Fuel Pump Relay and now it idles as smooth as a newborn babies skin. Comments? Keep up the great work on these great cars!

I have the same problem and I was going to fix it with a new fuel relay. But I kinda suspect a dying fuel pump. A new relay might overcome the dying fuel pump for a while but eventually a fuel pump drawing lotsa of power from degenerated internals will, I think, eventually cook the fuel relay. I have a super tight budget, how would you proceed? The voltimeter test at the fuse panel shows OK amp draw. But driving at speed presents the symptoms of either a bad relay or a bad pump or gummed up injectors. 'Thing is, my budget only allows for the best possible Fix - not throwing money at it replacing parts as a form of trouble shooting. What should I do? I'd hate to take it to the local (but extremely competant) indy volvo certified specialists who would only charge me real money for the same part(s) PLUS labor...

Tell us more about that test. You may have been misled. There is no single fuse that will measure only the fuel pump current draw.

Absolutely possible. The poor and intermittent solder connections may keep the fuel pump from developing enough oomph to raise pressure to the regulation point. Too little pressure with pulsed injection results in lean mixture-- at any speed.

Not usually. Generally you either have enough fuel pressure or you don't
and if you don't it shows up at high speed, not idle.
