444 Heater Controls 444-544 1958

When I bought my 444 project the heater control module was just setting in place held mostly by the push pull cables. Now I'm working out heater stuff and need to figure out how the control module is supposed to be mounted.

There is a bracket on the back that is held to the module by three timmerman screws/nuts. The bracket has two holes that look like they would support it (Part 95368 Konsul for Draganordning). But that bracket lines up with thin air behind the dash, no matter how I mount it. Also, if I put it onto the module pointing down like it appears in the parts catalog it seems to interfere with the cables.

Can someone tell me how this module is mounted/held in place? I'm hoping I don't have to make up a bracket from scratch.

    Keith,

There is another bracket that it sounds like you're missing, described (only, no image) in the parts manual as "Clamp (sprung) for control unit" and has pn 656473. From what I recall, it is "C" shaped and it does not physically attach to the heater control module but sort of "clamps" it to the underside of the dash. (I've only seen the attachment once, just before I removed it from the dash during car disassembly and like a dumb-a$$, I didn't snap any pictures of that area. STUPID, STUPID!)

I believe the bracket you are referring two (pn 95368, with the two holes on one end) is the one that holds the control cables to it by way of two small cable clamps, each with it's own screw. This does not mount the control unit to the dash.

If I had juice for my new digital camera (it came with a non-rechargeable battery - GRRRRR!) I'd take some pictures for you but unfortunately that will have to wait. I'm sure someone else will be able to help you further before the new charger and rechargeable battery come in.

    Good luck,

    Tony
