Alt light comes on for first 15 mins of drive. 200

A weird problem. When I drive the car after 12 hrs of sitting. The alternator light glows ever so slightly. If a put the fan on it becomes a bit brighter. After about 25 mins of driving it seems to fade away. If I start the car 4-6 hrs later its still not lit.

Seems very strange.

Sounds like the diode in the alternator is giving you a problem or the voltage regulator is sticking a bit, as in it is slow to react since it is electronic. Either way it looks like it is time to remove the alt and repair it. Last possible thing is a bad ground, the alt is set in rubber mounts, if i remember correctly, so you need to make sure that it has the proper ground wire. <><><> :<) Max

Maybe your battery is on the way out ie. not holding charge. Disconnect battery overnight and measure voltage. Check in morning to see if voltage is still there. Otherwise you may have an amp drain other than clock (door locks?).

All I can recommend is to clean both the large red terminal and the ground terminal lug, making sure all the connections show clean, shiny metal.

A voltage check is probably in order to make sure alternator and battery are healthy. Given these cars' propensity for trouble around the alternator wiring, I'd look there first.
