Hi Everybody!

My manual sunroof cranks about halfway before it jams.

Does anybody have experience repairing a manual sunroof?

Yes, the crank gear slips on the toothed cable and the sunroof gets out of adjustment.

You can get it back where it is supposed to be by.

    1. cranking it as far open as you can.
    2. take the crank off, then remove the 2 screws holding the gearbox to the roof off and pull it down.
    3. push the sunroof the rest of the way open.
    4. reinstall the gearbox and crank.

The gearbox has a stop in it, when the gears on the box slip against the toothed cables it gets out of sync. The stop then prevents the sunroof from opening all the way. By running the gearbox up to the stop then removing it and pushing the sunroof all the way open you re-sync' them. I had to do this several times on my old 244Ti during the years I had it.

This should work for 90% of the cases, if the slider will not go back with the gearbox out you have other issues that I've never run across.
    Good luck.
