Does anyone have a source for 1/8" headliner material? I need gray and was hoping not to have to pay $35/yd for it. It is available for that price all the time on eBay.

I know JoAnne Fabrics has 1/8" but they sell so little of it I am afraid it is old and won't last very long once it is installed.

I am doing a sedan with a sunroof so I assume I will need 4 yards.

I don't believe their site lists the 1/8", but they definitely have it if you email and request it. They'll ask you to mail them a sample of your hold headliner so they can match the color almost exactly.

I did my headliner a little over a year ago. I didn't do an excellent job being that it was a learning experience, but it still looks great, and the color match was pretty good too.

edit: Hmm it seems their site is no longer up, or rather it has been placed with some crappy ad site. Hope the number still works. Give it a shot. It was pretty cheap I seem to recall.

I purchased the stuff at the local fabric store for the last one I installed. The saleslady said they sell quite a lot of it, especially in the medium grey that I was buying. They even had the 3M 72 spray adhesive.

Perhaps I should look around for a high volume fabric store. Do you remember how much it was a yard?

I just looked for the receipt, couldn't find it, but I seem to remember that it was around $9-10 a yard. The can of special 3M adhesive was about the same, $10.

When I replaced the headliner on my 89 760 wagon, I found that several auto upholstery shops in our area had no problem selling me the headliner material. It cost $9.00/yard and it required at least 2 cans of the 3m adhesive $11.00/can. Check the yellow pages and make some calls.
