I'm trying to get the repair manual of my car, a 1987 240 GL

The best are, of course, the green manuals published by Volvo as "shop manuals".

The best alternative, supported by many members of this forum, is the Bentley manual. Most folks consider the Haynes and Chilton manuals to be little better than door stops.

If you cannot find what you want cheaply in print, take a look at alldata diy for an internet subscription to the manuals. You can print whatever you need from there; costs about $25 per year for the first vehicle, about $15 per year for any additional vehicles.
