help!! Help!! HELP!!!! OIL IN INTAKE! Engine chokes on oil. 700 1992

Hi.

(First excuse me for my sometimes poor english.)

I have a 92- 745 wich i burning oil LOTS!
It seems to be pushing oil up in intake and then back to engine
and burns it out. (Lots of blue smoke.)
I can pour out oil from the intake host.
This happens when the engine gets warm.

If i pull the plugs and run engine it spits oil (mostly from one cylinder
but all the plugs are wet of oil)

I have had the cylinderhead off and changed the intake shaft sealings
witch i first thought was the problem. I could not find something
wrong with the cylinderhead or shafts.

Cleaned the flametrap and breather and do not seem to have
excessed pressure in engine.
The compression is fine on all cylinders.

Is it possible that the oil scrape ring on one cylinder is faulty?
Can i still have good compression on that cylinder?

I hopes someone have a suggestion.

Oil rings generally do not crack, but they sure are known for sticking due to deposits...but not suddenly. Oil in the cylinders, no matter how it got there, will cover up leaky compression rings. In fact, wetting the cylinders and rechecking a low cylinder is a common method for determining whether loss was through rings, or otherwise (valves or head gasket).

Assuming no blocked oil return holes in the head - have you checked to be sure that the crankcase is not overfilled? After that, disconnect the breather and plug the intake and see if there is blowby or oil droplets. That should give enough info to decide if it is crankcase related or internal.

If it seems more likely to be internal, that one cylinder you said runs wettest is probably the source.

I wouldn't think there's any way oil could get into your intake system in a non turbo engine unless it's coming up through the pollution control system. Check the hose fittings on the intake manifold. They get plugged after a while. Maybe disconnect the pollution control tubes while the engine is running to see if alot of oil fumes are coming out. You can try putting a vacuum gauge on the intake manifold to see if the reading is steady. I believe if it jumps aroud alot it would indicate a valve seal problem as one of the reasons. Although it's not the only one.

You are surely correct: on a NA engine, the only sources of oil in the intake system or cylinders will be:
-bad flame trap breather system (test by disconnecting the flame trap and plugging the intake manifold port)
      -valve stem oil seals
      -head gasket oil leaks
      -bad oil rings

This sounds like a broken ring. Has the engine overheated recently? It might also be due to incredibly worn intake valve stem seals.

Yes, that's what i belive too.

Strange is that the compression is fine on all cylinders.
Is it possible only the oil ring is broken?

      I have new intake seals.

broken or worn oil ring(s) do not have connection with compression...once have seen sth like that on relatives Rover...after we find out that due to bad valve guide replacement done before the cylinder head was damaged...clouds of blue smoke...the problem was solved with scrapyard head and lots of headache before...

    Hello:

It seems like you should do a compression test-- how many km on the engine? How many liters of oil do you need to add between oil changes?
