Passenger's Seat Belt Stuck 900 1992

The seat belt on the passenger's side of my Volvo 940 got stuck after a minor bump on a parking lot. It is stuck now in the fully retracted position. I tried to pull it out and also tried to pull it out while pushing down the reel (that the belt retracts around). I just need to get it to pull out and go back in. I don't care about its sensitivity and if it will respond to a crash or whatever (I know, I know but I just can't afford to fully repair it right now).

If you think the only way to repair it is to replace it with a new one, could you give me an idea how much it might cost me? I'm in NC, USA.

Thanks.

In the FAQ, look for "Seat Belt Retractor Repair" in the category "Site Map of Descriptive Detail Files:" (second big box down).

Speaking of seatbelt problems... I've got a problem with the center backseat seatbelt in my '93 945T - it's fully pulled out and I can't get it to do anything (a real brat of a kid was yanking on it, but it was acting up a little before that - I have since banned him from ever riding with me, just a wild child). Now that spring is here I'll get back to it and see how to get it out. I just noticed two screws on the top today, maybe if I remove those I can remove the assembly? If not I'm afraid I'll have to get medieval on the rear seat to get to the assembly.

hey yall, just be careful when you're messing with seatbelt retraction mechanisms. Those things are under tension and if you open up it can be a big ugly hairy mess.......sbdski
