I need some help with a part (Easy) 444-544 1964

Somewhere in the past couple of weeks I managed to lose the black plastic cover for the 4-circuit fuse block that resides on the firewall of my '64 PV544.

I made up a temporary cover, but I'd like to get the larger fuse block (6 circuits?) to accomodate the added circuits I've put in.

I can buy an aftermarket fuse/breaker box, but I'd rather have that original look.

If anyone has a spare large fuse block they'll part with, please drop me an e-mail telling me how much $.

Thanks! Steve

    Steve,
You could just add another 4 fuse box, and have plenty of spare connectors for future improvements. That's what I did when I had filled up all the outputs on mine.

I scouted around on eBay for a while and found a few boxes that will work. The ones I looked at use the blade-type fuses and also have a couple of breaker spots. If I get a box for marine applications I can be assured that I won't have any water infiltration problems.

The 'other car' types would have to go inside, under the dash, though. I would prefer the engine compartment to remain as much Volvo as possible.

I did come across a few of those blowers like I used to bypass my inop heater blower. They were listed as bilge blowers and came in several diameters, mainly 3" or 4". A good thing to have on hand if your heater blower is starting to throw fits.

If somebody coughs up a 6-fuse BOX, I've found the proper LID here for you.
        Best,
        Shayne.

          Every little bit helps!

The 'replacement' cover I made up looks fine for Saturday's show. The more I look at the engine compartment, the more I think it would look a lot better to re-route as much of the wiring as possible inside the cabin. There seems to be an awful lot of wires under the hood for such a simple little car!

The larger fuse box would be a big help, until I get around to running all those wires out of sight. I've added several more circuits to power things since I got the car, but they are hooked directly to the battery + terminal and have inline fuses in them. Not the way I'd prefer!

I think that the car would benefit from a fuse strip mounted on the inner left fender liner. Originally there was a gang plug here that connected the headlights to the rest of the wiring harness. That plug was both melted and broken, so I installed a wiring terminal block there. That's a big improvement over the original plug in that all the circuits are exposed so it's easy test them. A fuse box would be even better, I think.

          Meanwhile, onward and upward!

          Steve
