Brake sound 240 88' 200 1988

ok my brakes are acting up..
i dont know if they need changing.. but maybe you guys can help figure the problem up

the symptoms are :

longer time to slow down
a rubber flapping sound...(calipers)?
the smell of burning rotors.. i think ive read a post in the forum which detailed this..(unsure though that it is)

anyhelp is grateful

Someone who knows brakes definitely needs to look at them.
From the symptoms given, it could be something other than just worn brake pads.

If you have some experience working on disk brakes, pop the wheels off and start looking them over.

If you don't have some experience, then you might want to get the help of a buddy to look them over with you, or take them to a shop for a "free" brake inspection. Once you get their results, promise to make a decision as soon as you get your next paycheck. Then maybe try another shop for a second opinion, or get a friend to help do whatever they found - after checking that each item really needs doing.
