Chasing a noise 120-130

Well guys, I`m hearing things again. Squealing noise I think is related to the tranny. Not a rumble, scraping, or grinding. Squeal more noticeable when cold. Will start about 15 MPH and stop about 15 MPH. Independent of engine speed, not affected by braking. This started I think, after the rear tranny seal was replaced. Could the new seal be squealing? Never heard that before, but... Closest type of sound I`ve heard like it is a belt or U-joint. This is continuous more like a belt, but it`s not a belt. What could be squealing inside the tranny? Thanks to all.

    Chasing a noise 120-130

OK, I`m thinking this could be some sort of a wear sensor on the right front brake pads. Squeal/whistle is subtle, but persistent now. Even present when I switch off and coast in neutral, irrespective of clutch in or out. Not really affected by braking. I rememeber some aftermarket pads years ago that had a built-in wear indicator. I don`t think Volvo ever used them, but has anyone ever run into one? I`ve got replacement pads, and I`m at the point of wanting to try them to see if the whistle disappears. Still could be a wheel bearing, but it doesn`t sound like any disgruntled bearing I have ever heard. Closest description I can give now is like a steady, non-pitch changing wind whistle, and it seems to be coming from the right front. Wheel?

Not tranny related but generator is on passenger side 120-130

It might be worthwhile to have a good listen to the generator while manipulating the throttle at the carb(s).

How's your drive shaft center support bearing? (nmi) 120-130

Danny: Very good idea. The noise seems more forward and towards the right front, but the way noises can bounce around I might be misled. The center support bears checking for sure, (no pun intended)!

makes sence to me too... if it's not affected by the engine, or braking, or cornering... it's about got to be in the driveshaft.

Or the output of the tranny as you suggest, but I can't think of a new seal squeeking... Was that correct when you said it starts and stops at about 15mph? Pretty slow really...
