I've got a 90 740T. 229,92x miles today.

I've got to replace the headliner and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that new headliners seem to have fabric on one side and bare foam on the other. The original (I think) that I have in my car seems to be Foam sandwiched between two layers of fabric.
Does anyone know where I can get original style or if the aftermarket is better?

Thanks for the response. I thought that having double sided headliner was odd. Have you had any issues with the new headliner you put up?

Nope. The FAQ strongly suggests getting 1/8" headliner instead of 1/4" headliner if you have a sunroof. I didn't, but I still went with 1/8" headliner material anyway. The job I did wasn't great, but it was acceptable. Just make sure that when you're putting the new headliner down on the board that you're careful about making sure it is applied nice and evenly and laid down flat. If you pull the headliner TOO taught when you're pushing it down, you'll end up with some slight 'bubbles' around the curvey areas of the headliner, so it's hard to find a balance.

Otherwise, the color match was pretty close. I don't recall where I bought the material from, but I think they went out of business not so long ago unfortunately. :-(

I would suggest using 2 cans of 3M Aerosol Trim Adhesive 08090 for the job.

Thank you. I'm going to call around sometimes soon to the upholstery places, see what kind of deal I can get and where I can get it. The double fabric seems odd to me. Can you think why they would do that?
